A youth produced and created film exploring the life and impact of Buffalo Artist, Wilhelmina Godfrey.

Created by BCAT youth artists in conjunction with Burchfield’s exhibition Wilhelmina Godfrey: I Am What I Am, this short documentary sheds light on the life and work of Wilhelmina Godfrey, an influential yet often overlooked Buffalo artist. Using archival footage and photographs, the film captures her passion for the creative process and her lasting impact on the city’s artistic landscape. This project was made possible by the Burchfield Penney Art Center, which is hosting the first large-scale exhibition of Godfrey’s work.

Wilhelmina Godfrey: I Am What I Am at the Burchfield Penney Art Center seeks to restore her rightful place in Buffalo’s cultural history.
